A small group of companies during 1989 through to 2009, introduced, used and developed a new series formwork for concrete housing and small scale buildings. This light weight formwork and building system won the 2005 Australian Engineering Excellence Award.
During 2009 an up-date of technology to reduce formwork components and concrete surface finishing was undertaken. The new formwork moulds solid concrete walls, corners, wall "T' junctions and suspended slabs, using fibre cement wall cladding to retain the liquid concrete in its correct positions.
New Formwork and Building Technology
The versatility and simplicity of construction, along with cost reductions using concrete as a building material for both small and large scale buildings, can be demonstrated with the new technology and the construction of a range of quality green roof homes..
There are 10 interchangeable and clearly distinguishable different formwork components. The manually assembled components are easy to use, clean and service. Quantities and costs of formwork components in each concrete pour are based on,
1) The wall lengths,
2) The number of wall corners and
3)The number of wall "T" junctions.
Construction procedures for concrete buildings have been resolved over a long period of time and recorded in established industry standards.
Work procedures for the new formwork and the use of fibre cement cladding are contained in the confidential on-site reference manual.
Expressions of Interest
To participate in a consortium, the purpose of which would be to promote the production of affordable quality housing which reduces climate change issues related to water and living green roofs and concrete housing to reduce damage during extreme events
The demonstration homes will be completed in a price range of $412.00 per square metre of usable floor and roof top space.
When the technology has been demonstrated to the building industry, the homes will be sold to cover agreed costs. Future of demonstration programmes could then be resolved.
