Exciting New Innovation! A building system has been developed to construct multiples of different concrete home designs with the same interchangeable formwork equipment.
Until now producing concrete walls has made it difficult to introduce concrete into the main streams of the housing industry. Developers, Architects, Builders and New Home Owners can now consider and compare the advantages and costs of concrete housing.
New building technology to hold liquid concrete in place, whilst it is setting, is ready to enter the main stream of the building industry.
The technology to produce cost effective energy efficient concrete housing is contained in three basic concrete building components.
- An external corner formwork wall panel support member
- An internal corner concrete formwork mould and wall panel support member
- Intermediate wall formwork panel support members
The addition of commercially available stay in-place or removable wall panel sheets (form-ply) and styrene insulation sheets for the external walls provide a combination of five components to produce a wide range of energy efficient home designs
Advantages and features of this technology.
Wall production can be off-form to produce a concrete wall surface finish, or with stay in-place wall panel sheets of personal choice.
- Building in-situ concrete housing using new technology now competes favourably with conventional housing
- Concrete as a building material has a long term investment history. A qualified person is usually required to certify the reinforcing steel has been placed to engineers drawings prior to the concrete pour. The concrete strength is tested by the supplier to confirm its strength and integrity
- Standard features of concrete housing are strong walls that provide shelter during extreme events
- No termite issues
- A standard in-situ concrete home structure complies with all the applicable building standards that have been documented for in-situ concrete structures, this is particularly important in regions subject to the destructive forces of weather changes and other extreme events.
- Internal in-situ concrete walls resists the spread of room to room fires and provide the support required for a concrete roof slab.
- Non-combustible exterior. No joints to allow flame penetration and retains structural strength under heat, reduces damage during cyclones and bush fires. "Safe" in an Earthquake, resists structural damage and maintains ductility.
- The thermal mass of concrete is slow to change from a selected temperature when insulated from outside temperature changes, the thermal mass stores and releases energy to assist maintain an even temperature inside the home, providing low cost comfort in all climate conditions
- Wall water storage tanks blend in with the home appearance.
- The formwork and building system is available to produce a wide range of housing designs
The technology
- The in-situ concrete formwork and building system has been progressively developed over a period of 18 years. It has been extensively field tested and modified during the construction of more than 100 in-situ concrete homes and other concrete structures.
- The new formwork equipment and building system has Australian patents and patents pending in other countries.
- The formwork and building system Won the 2005 Australian Engineering Excellence Award.
- Since 2005 the equipment and building system has been progressively simplified to reduce equipment costs and materials handling.
- The technology is supported by an on-site workers training and reference manual
The vertical and horizontal wall positions are maintained in their true positions during assembly and the liquid concrete pour by a base straight edge and a series of straight edges and strong-backs opposing each other to form a wall cavity, they are locked together with three vertical strong-back locking pins horizontally positioned 1200mm apart for concrete walls up to 3 metres high in one continuous concrete pour.
All formwork components are removable and reusable after the concrete has set Formwork corner support members support the liquid concrete retaining wall panel sheets at the corners.
The intermediate formwork support members are spaced to support the intermediate wall panel sheets.
The internal corner sheets and "T" junctions are neatly moulded into the wall corners and "T" junctions during the liquid concrete placement to blend with the wall finishes.
The lightweight formwork is manually assembled and disassembled on-site. Quantities of the 12 clearly distinguishable and interchangeable component are easily calculated for the building designs and sizes.Enquiries for:-
